Pakistan regarded Finland as an important partner country, PM

Islamabad : Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan regarded Finland as an important partner country of the Nordic region and sought to further expand the existing bilateral cooperation.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Mr. Osmo Lipponen, outgoing Ambassador of Finland to Pakistan, who paid a farewell call on him at the PM House here Friday.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan offered attractive investment opportunities particularly in the fields of energy, infrastructure, communications and agriculture, adding that Finnish business enterprises could take advantage of these opportunities.

The Prime Minister underscored the need of enhancing high-level bilateral exchanges between both countries, adding that concerted efforts need to be made to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, science and technology as well as people-to-people contact.

The Prime Minister thanked Finland for her support to Pakistan during times of floods and in its efforts for enhanced market access in EU under GSP plus scheme.

The Prime Minister appreciated the contributions of the outgoing Ambassador for enhancing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Finland. He further said that hydel projects installed with Finnish machinery were operating well.

The Prime Minister expressed his best wishes to the Ambassador.The Ambassador thanked the government of Pakistan for extending him facilitation during his diplomatic assignment in Pakistan.
