Sunni Ittehad Council stages pro-Qadri rally, announces holding ‘Save Pakistan’ March

Karachi: Sunni Ittehad Council announced on Saturday carrying out ‘Pakistan Bachao’ (Save Pakistan) Train March from Karachi to Rawalpindi on November 20 against what they described as poor governance in the country.

The announcement was made by SIC leaders in a rally against the conviction of Mumtaz Qadri, self-confessed murderer of Ex-Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, carried out from Old Numaish roundabout to Tibet Centre.

Hundreds of SIC supporters and activists carrying placards incrsibed with slogans in favor of Qadri demanding his release. Serious traffic mess was also witnessed during the rally at the M.A Jinnah Road bringing virtually all the traffic to a standstill.

Addressing the rally, Chief Jamaat-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat (JAS) Amir Maulana Allamaa Shah Turab ul Haq Qadri said people of Pakistan won’t bow down before the anti-Islamic foreign forces.

He said people won’t allow Washington diplomats to go scot-free unless who were responsible for creating anarchy in the country.

He termed conviction of Qadri against the injunctions of Islam and demanded his release at earliest.

Chairman Sunni Tehreek Sarwat Ijaz Qadri recalled that US Spy Raymond Davis who killed three Pakistanis in a broad daylight was released following the intervention of US government and lamented the government for convicting Mumtaz Qadri, who, according to them, acted upon true principles of Islam.

He also criticized the incumbent government plunging major national institutions into severe financial crisis including Pakistan Railways and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) through its weak policies.

He said SIA and other religious parties stand by Pakistan Army in all difficult times and forces acting against the sovereignty of the country.
He also demanded of the government to release Mumtaz Qadri in the better interest of the country.

Among others who spoke include Secretary General SIC Haji Hanif Muhammad Tayyab and Sahabzada Fazal Karim.
