Livid Balochistan missing persons” relatives to boycott investigation team hearing

Quetta,  Relatives of Balochistan”s missing persons have decided to boycott a hearing of the joint investigation team (JIT), which is scheduled for June 4.

“We do not trust in investigation teams and commissions anymore,” said Mama Qadir Baloch, vice chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VFBMP), while addressing a gathering at a hunger strike camp.

According to the Daily Times, Baloch claimed that Justice Javed Iqbal had promised him on March 17, 2011, saying, “You stop the hunger strike camp in Islamabad and your missing persons will reach homes before you get home. But we started recovering bullet-riddled bodies of missing persons instead.”

Baloch said there was no improvement in law and order despite Chief Justice Ifthikar Muhammad Chaudhry taking up the matter in Quetta twice.

He alleged that many commissions and committees were made during the last four years, but could yield no substantial results.

Baloch said he has been continuously receiving threats to end the hunger strike camp.

“The relatives of missing persons are also being threatened by secret agencies not to appear in Supreme Court hearing,” he alleged.
