Muzaffarabad, Pakistan has joined club of countries using hi-tech tunnel boring machines to execute water and hydropower sector projects.
This was stated by Chief Executive Officer Neelum Jehlum Hyro Power project Lt. General Muhammad Zubair after Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf formally inaugurated two German-manufactured machines costing Rs 19.5 billion Monday in Muzaffarabad.
On completion its completion in year 2016 these machines with required modifications can also be used for constructing other water and hydropower projects.
It is being executed on priority to induct low-cost hydel electricity in national grid and establish priority water rights over Neelum & Jhelum rivers as India is also constructing Kishan Ganga project upstream of Neelum Jhelum Hydropower project.
