Nawaz to Nandipur Power Plant Project on Saturday

SIALKOT :  Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will visit Nandipur Power Plant Project located at the junction of the limits of both Sialkot and Gujranwala districts here on SSaturday.

Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif will give a detailed briefing about this project to the PM during a special ceremony scheduled to be held there at Nandipur-Daska here. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, several federal and provincial ministers and MNAs and MPAs from Gujranwala Division will also be present on this occasion.

According to the Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Federal Minister for water and Power, the inordinate delay in the release of Nandipur Power Plant project s luggage, weighing 17000 tons from Karachi Port by the PPP led federal government had caused a loss of Rs.113 billion to the national exchequer during the last two-years.  The said luggage had been lying unattended at Karachi Port, where it had started rusting now, which was not only a point of grave concern, but it also spoke volumes of the incumbent rulers  apathy.

Talking to newsmen here, Khawaja Asif revealed that the cost of establishing the Nandipur Power Project had raised to US$ 730 million from its actual cost of US$ 329 million due to delay in commencing of the project.
