Jamshoro, A two-day training workshop was held at Sindh University Jamshoro regarding the ISO Quality Management System (QMS) wherein 60 officers and faculty members were trained by Furqan Hameed, the chief auditor and the trainer of ISO-9001. The certificates of participation were distributed amongst the participants on the conclusion of the workshop.
Vice Chancellor of Sindh University Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Mughal chaired the ceremony whereas Pro-Vice Chancellor SU Mirpurkhas campus Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili, Registrar Ghulam Mohammad Bhutto, Director Quality Enhancement Cell Dr. Azhar Ali Shah and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Nazir A Mughal, the vice chancellor of SU said that the standard and quality of education couldn t be raised until the cooperation of faculty members with the administration and coordination of academic departments with one another adding that the grouping among the teachers must be brought to an end for the better interest of the students and university.
He urged the faculty members to extend their support to the administration so that ISO Quality Management System (QMS) may be introduced in the varsity.
He said that the HEC ranking of SU declined owing to not being sent proper data of the varsity to Higher Education Commission adding that his university created 185 PhDs within last 3 years which he termed a big success in the field of higher education.
Earlier, Furqan Hameed, Chief Auditor & Trainer of ISO said in his briefing that quality management had become increasingly present in the life of organizations and their survival was mainly linked to the quality of their activities.
He added: The way in which each organization focuses on quality issues may vary according to the sectors and the environment where it carries out its activities and of course, the organizations own strategies.
There are various ways of focusing on quality and one of the options is to approach the quality management system using the standard ISO 9001. He said.
Hameed said that he stayed four days at University of Sindh and prepared some recommendations for bringing the varsity into ISO quality management system which will soon be presented to the vice chancellor.
In his speech, Dr. Azhar Ali Shah narrated the benefits and blessing of ISO Quality Management System and vowed to impose it in the varsity.
