Rawalpindi : Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) is continuing its struggle for promotion of art and the culture and always provided a platform to the young talent of the region.
In this regard, RAC held an exhibition of paintings by Islamabad based senior artist Sabeeha Nasir here on Wednesday featuring landscapes and cityscapes in her 92 art pieces.
Malik Abrar Ahmed, member National Assembly accompanied by Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition which was also attended by Mr. Kusdiana, Counselor Social and Cultural Affairs Indonesian Embassy and a large number of art lovers from twin cities. Sabeeha is a retired associate professor and a realist painter, but her paintings of landscapes or cityscapes are more than an imitation of what is seen. She has full command over use of oil, water, poster colors and pencil.
Addressing after inaugural ceremony, Abrar Ahmed said that Sabeeha Nasir has a magical skill to capture the essence of the vignette that she replicates on canvas. Beyond realism she understands her subject matter well. The artist renders such images with amazing dexterity. Her paintings take their inspiration from a direct observation of nature, he further added.
Mr. Kusdiana, Counselor Social and Cultural Affairs Indonesian Embassy was of the view that Sabeeha Nasir uses a rich palette that brings a pictorial richness to her canvas. “She is a master of capturing seasons and times of day- In her landscapes one can truly feel the breeze and smell the grass” he further said. Naheed Mnazoor said that Rawalpindi Arts Council always encouraged new talent to exhibit their art. Sabeeha Nasir has several group shows to her credit but this is first ever solo exhibition. The exhibition will continue till June 02.
