Islamabad : The Central Executive Committee of the PPP has decided to formulate its strategy in response to the Supreme Cour judgement following consultations with the allies.
The meeting of the CEC held in Islamabad on Tuesday was chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari, who is Co-Chairperson of the party.
Later, addressing a news conference Secretary-General of the party Jehangir Badr, Central Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira and Raja Parvez Ashraf said a meeting with the leaders of the allied parties would also be held .
Similarly, they said, a meeting of the parliamentary party of the PPP has also been convened today (Wednesday) to discuss the situation.
They said the CEC authorized President Asif Ali Zardari to take decisions to deal with the situation.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said despite reservations on the judgement, it was decided that future course of action would be decided after
consulting the allied parties.
He said the Co-Chairperson of the PPP President Asif Ali Zardari has given instructions to the party workers to demonstrate patience and not to resort of protest demonstrations.
He said in Punjab sponsored protests are already underway in which property is being damaged.
Replying to a question he said after verdict of the court, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani is technically no more Prime Minister and there is no Federal Cabinet.
About status of the decisions taken by Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani after April 26, he said the situation would become clear after detailed judgement is available.
To another question he said the verdict has both political and legal aspects and consultations on both the aspects are continuing.
Raja Parvez Ashraf said the PPP and its allies have worked hard to take the democratic process forward and hoped that it would continue unhindered.
Mr. Kaira told a questioner that President Asif Ali Zardari has cancelled his visit to Russian Federation in view of the evolving situation.
The President was due to leave for Russia today (Wednesday) for bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart and to attend the annual Internatioal Economic Forum at St. Petersburg.
