ISLAMABAD, Allergy is a common ailment, which spreads more in the months of July and August as the weather is humid and hot, therefore to create awareness among people about the disease July 8 being observed every year, as World Allergy Day .
Lack of awareness pertaining to the symptoms and treatment can lead to serious complications. So, on World Allergy Day, which is observed today (Sunday), public attention to the disease drawn with emphasis on the need for its treatment and prevention to minimize its cases.
Researches show people are not sufficiently informed about the problem of allergy while about 30% of population suffers from the disease. Unfortunately many do not realize they suffer from allergy often relating it to other diseases.
It was established in 2005 and designed to attract public attention to the problem of allergy highlighting importance and necessity of compliance with preventive and clinical interventions.
Allergy is an exaggerated reaction by our immune system when the body comes in contact with certain foreign substances. It is exaggerated because these foreign substances are usually seen by the body as harmless and no response occurs in non-allergic people.
