ISLAMABAD:- Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that ideal situation of 5-year PPP government which will flourish democratic norms in the Country.
Dethronement of elected governments before time will shatter the public confidence on democratic values. Popularity of any political party is judged in the elections only. In the by-elections whether it were held in Punjab, Sindh, KP or in Balochistan, people expressed confidence upon the candidates of the PPP.
He was speaking on ground breaking ceremony of restoration of Kohala-Muzaffarabad strategic road in Muzaffarabad on Thursday. Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan and Prime Minister AJK Ch. Abdul Majeed laid the foundation stone.
Addressing a public gathering Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan said, after Allah Almighty, the biggest accountability is carried out by the people through elections. Completion of tenure by elected government and in time elections will prepare the ground to bring about transparency in democratic system.
Talking about the road project Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan said rehabilitation of Kohala-Muzaffarabad road is an important strategic project that will ease access to Muzaffarabad. The project will be completed at estimated cost of Rs. 2.3 billion in three packages. New construction techniques shall be employed to make it more safe from land sliding and comfortable. The project will promote tourism thus generating more employment opportunities for the locals.
Welcoming Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan in Muzaffarabad, Prime Minister AJK Ch. Abdul Majeed said, Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan has expressed solidarity by selecting day of July 19, as this day marks when the Kashmiris discarded the Dogra Raj and declared affiliation with Pakistan. He commended the services of Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan for starting work on this project as it was a long standing demand of the people.
Members of the AJK legislative Assembly, elites of the area, senior officers of NHA, and a large number of people from surrounding areas were also present.
