ISLAMABAD, Shifa International Hospital has emerged as the best place for post-graduate medical education mainly due to its state-of-the-art medical facilities and on job training opportunities.
SIH is indeed helping the public sector by providing excellent post-graduate training opportunities to doctors, said Vice President College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSC) Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal while addressing at the first annual resident evening arranged at Shifa International Hospital here as the chief guest.
He said Shifa as an institution is not only providing excellent medical care to the patients but has also become a leading place for post-graduate medical education for doctors who want to enhance their education and professional capabilities up to an international standard while staying in Pakistan.
Prof. Gondal also distributed shields and prizes among 13 post-graduate residents of Shifa who have passed the examination for Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) and 2 PG residents who have earned the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) of the United Kingdom. 31 other PG residents received certificates.

Dr. Manzoor H. Qazi thanked the dignitaries from CPSC and other guests for sharing thoughts with PG residents at SIH. He said Shifa has always strived to provide best healthcare facilities to the patients and is committed to provide matchless training opportunities for post-graduate resident.
Dr. Mian Amjad Sohail apprised the participants about PGME program at Shifa. He told them that SIH is fully accredited institution for 4-year PG training in its various departments including Radiology since 2003 and Pediatrics, Gynecology, Surgical and Anesthesia since 2007. He said currently more than 130 PG residents and Fellows were getting training in 17 approved disciplines.
“We are planning to induct PG residents in 15 more specialties in future.” He added that SIH has increased stipend of PG residents that is now matching with the PG stipend announced by the federal government, which shows our commitment to education excellence.
Dr. Muhammad Amer said the quality of training at Shifa could be judged by looking at the exceptional results of PG residents in Intermediate Module (IMM) and FCPS.
