Office of FIA will be setup in Gilgit,Malik,announce lifting of curfew

Islamabad :  Announcing lifting of curfew and restoration of mobile service in Gilgit,Interior Minister Rehman Malik Saturday said an office of FIA will be setup as part of efforts to improve the situation there.

Talking to the media persons in Islamabad  along with Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah after chairing a meeting on law and order situation, he said that several persons were arrested following the acts of violence in Gilgit but those found innocent will be released soon.

Rehman Malik said that strength of police force in Gilgit will be increased to ten thousand from five thousand while Frontier Corps and rangers have also been directed to assist the Gilgit Baltistan government in maintenance of law and order.

He said that an office of FIA will also be set up in Gilgit as part of efforts to improve the situation there.

The interior minister said that religious scholars are also being taken on board for promotion of religious harmony in the area. In this connection he said that a seminar will also be held in Gilgit.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah said the provincial government has taken serious steps for maintenance of law and order in the area.

He said that problems faced by the people will be resolved on priority basis and the area will be turned into an abode of peace.

He said those involved in acts of violence will not be spared and brought to justice at all costs.
