Businessmen for introducing local bodies system in Islamabad

Islamabad :  Local bodies system must be introduced in the Federal Capital like all other cities of Pakistan so as the people of the Capital might also enjoy the fruits of the system, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Local bodies structure is basic essences of democracy, but no local government elections have been held in the federal capital so far, thus citizens of Islamabad should be granted their fundamental right of electing local bodies, Yassar Sakhi Butt, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), made these remarks during a meeting with Faisal Sakhi Butt, PM Chief Coordinator for Islamabad. Senior Members of ICCI were also present on the occasion.

ICCI President was of the view that political uncertainty was one of the many factors that were disturbing the businesses in present conditions. He said that the establishment of local governments would improve the effectiveness of public-private partnership paradigm to evolve strategies for the development of Federal Capital.

He said that infrastructure development projects could be completed on time under local bodies system, which would help flourish business activities and escalate economic growth.

Yassar Sakhi Butt said that the current business environment presents a depressing outlook as business community of the Federal Capital has gone under great stress due to shortage and acceleration of prices of electricity, gas and petroleum products.

At this critical situation, local bodies system should be introduced in the Federal Capital as direct interaction between the government representatives and business leaders is essential for timely solutions of confronted issues of business community, he maintained.
