NA Speaker extolled for turning dream of PIPS into reality

ISLAMABAD :   A meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) was held in newly inaugurated PIPS Campus Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly/President Board of Governor (PIPS) in the chair, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) was a landmark achievement of the incumbent parliament, besides being a premier training and research facility for the national as well as provincial legislatures.

She eulogized the immense contributions of Members of the BoG from its initial stage of development to the completion of permanent campus. She said that institutionalization of the capacity building of Members of the Parliament and training facility for the legislative staff was imperative and was turned into functioning reality with the assistance of United State of America. She was confident that the establishment of PIPS would be beneficial for strengthening of democracy in Pakistan and building strong and robust democratic institutions.

Members of the Board of Governors were appreciative of the dynamic leadership of Dr. Fehmida Mirza under whose able leadership; the idea of PIPS was turned into reality.

Sabir Ali Baloch, Deputy Chairman Senate paying tribute to the Speaker, said that national parliament and provincial legislatures were indebted to her for establishment of the state-of-art parliamentary services institute. Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker Punjab Assembly complementing Madam Speaker, said that she needs to be commended as the concept of PIPS was conceived and fulfilled in during her tenure. He said that Provincial legislature would benefit a lot from PIPS.

Nisar Ahmad Khuro, Speaker Sindh Assembly eulogized the stewardship of Madam Speaker for making PIPS a reality. He suggested for setting up of provincial campuses of PIPS in all the provincial capitals.

Aslam Bhootani Speaker Balochistan Assembly paid tribute to Madam Speaker and said that the idea of PIPS turning into a beaming reality in short span of three years owe to the relentless efforts of the Speaker.

The other Members of the Board commended the Speaker s efforts and said that her name would always be remembered in the annals of history for her valuable contributions for institutionalizing the capacity building and research facility for the parliamentarians. They said that the national, provincial and regional legislatures. Earlier, fateha was also offered for the deceased nephew of Speaker Khyber-pukhtoonkhwa Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Sabir Ali Baloch, Deputy Chairman Senate, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Speaker Punjab Assembly, Nisar Ahmad Khuro, Speaker Sindh Assembly, Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Senators Dr. Saeeda Iqbal, Engr. Muhammad Hamayun Khan Mandokhel, MNAs Mrs. Yasmeen Rehman, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, S.A Iqbal Qadri, Pervaiz Khan, Zafar beg Bhittani, Executive Director (PIPS) and Secretaries of Senate and National Assembly.
