Islamabad : Federal Minister for Climate Change, Rana M. Farooq Saeed Khan stated that standards of living can be made better only by keeping the environment clean and green.
We have to conserve natural energy resource to prevent environmental menace , he expressed these thoughts on the World Environment Day’s seminar, with the motto ‘Green Economy: Does it include you?’ here Tuesday at Islamabad College for Girls, F-6/2.
The seminar was conducted in collaboration with Pakistan Wetlands Programme, ICIMOD, and Ministry for Climate Change.
Farooq Saeed stated that carbon emissions should be lowered to promote a greener environment and green economy, and water, air, and land should be made saved from being polluted by the joint efforts of people. We all should pledge to save and purify our environment from all the possible forma of pollution , he said.
Senior Director, Pakistan Wetlands Programme, Dr. Ghulam Akbar said that keeping in mind the importance of natural resources in every aspect of life is in reality called Green Economy.
He said trees play a significant role in keeping our environment clean. 25% of any country’s land should comprise of forests, but regrettably Pakistan’s land has only 5.2% of forested land. We can keep our environment green and encourage Green Economy by planting more trees he added.
He also stated that this day demands us to prevent our land, air, water, and general surroundings from all types of pollution, and in addition to this, noise pollution should also be brought under control. At the event, Secretary for the Ministry of Climate Change, Muhammad Javed Malik also spoke and upheld Dr. Ghulam Akbar’s book.
A large number of students, parents, and common residents attended the ceremony. To enlighten the worth of this day, students performed puppet shows, skits, and tableaus, which were exceedingly appreciated by the audience.
