Karachi : Medical experts have said that hundreds of patients are suffering from liver diseases but no proper treatment facilities are available for them in Pakistan and they have to go to India and other countries for treatment, especially liver transplant.
This was said by Consultant Gynecologist Dr Shahida Mirza, Dr M. Jothi, Dr Manav Wadhaman and others during a press conference at Karachi Press Club here on Friday.
They said patients have to go abroad for liver transplantation which cost them very high so the government must establish liver transplantation centers in Pakistan or help these patients.
Dr Manav Wadhaman and Dr M. Jothi have come from India to check up Pakistani patients, especially in Karachi. They along with Dr Shahida Mirza conducted a two-day OPD 28 to 29 June at local hotel where more than 300 patients were examined and out of them 5% need liver transplantation.
They said they want Pakistani and Indian doctors to treat poor patients with the help of government and NGOs. They said liver diseases mainly spread due to hepatitis; therefore, peoples must get examined them every year.
