KARACHI : A division bench of Sindh High Court, headed by Justice Maqbool Baqir, on Thursday directed police to provide protection to a freewill couple facing threats to their life.
Petitioner Ms. Tahira Siddiqa moved court with her husband, Amir Ali Sheedi, submitting they solemnized freewill marriage that outraged their families, who were extending threats to kill them. She prayed to issue direction to police authorities to provide protection to them.
Issuing notice to respondents for October 19, 2012, SHC bench directed concerned police to provide full and effective security to petitioner, her husband so that no harm was caused to them.
Petitioner was also directed to approach SHC Registrar, who shall communicate court s order for security provision to concerned SSP and SHO. Meanwhile, SHO Artillery Maidan was directed to provide safe passage to petitioners from the court to their residence.
