Karachi : Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik says some elements are engaged in “deliberate conspiracy against democratic set up in the country will hopefully be foiled at any cost.”
“Some elements want to create law and order situation with their nefarious designs,” he told newsmen on Wednesday at Karachi airport on return from London. He said Karachi police issued red alert across the city with aim to curb terrorist elements. “Karachi belongs to all. We are not banning any person to visit the city.”
On holding public meetings, taking out rallies, he urged parties and political forces to get prior permission and government arrange security for them.
Malik said he had detailed meeting with MQM chief Altaf Hussain in London who categorically denied any support for Mohajir province and said he supports only Sindh province.
On meetings with British leadership during visit Minister said they realize Pakistan is suffering from menace of terrorism and its sacrifices in the war on terror must be recognized as a front line defender. Pakistan nation would never accept drone attacks on its soil, he stated.
“Despite our numerous sacrifices in man and material, we are being treated as second line defenders. Over 36,000 of our civil and armed forces personnel sacrificed their lives in this war,” he observed.
He asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to promote the federation instead of promoting concept of people of Punjab while talking with foreign delegates.
