Karachi : Discarding the so-called philosophy of Muhajirism being propagated in Pakistan, Sindh Taraqi Pasand party chairman Dr. Qadir Magsi called upon saner Urdu-speaking population to come out and reject the elements conspiring to push them to unending bloodshed by talking of division of Sindh.
The Urdu-speaking people living in Sindh are three generations of those who migrated from India in 1947. They are born here and now are not migrants but sons of the soil, he said addressing a crowded press conference at Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.
The Urdu-speaking people are living not only Karachi but other cities and even in small towns across the province, who should rise and declare that they are against demand of separate province, he said.
Magsi said MQM was denying having any involvement in such demands, but it should prove this by practical steps like action against its activists in USA who supported demand of Muhajir province through a press conference. Moreover, MQM through its workers must remove wall chalking and billboards in Karachi and other cities.
STPP chief said: We reject division of Sindh be it on the administrative, political, linguistic or economic basis and we reserve the right to defend our motherland against evil designs.
Talking of rights of Sindhis, Dr. Qadir Magsi said: Sindhis were underprivileged, as the doors of jobs and educational institutions are closed for them in their own province, while the Urdu-speaking people are over-privileged but even then we do not object on it.
Explaining further, he said if the majority party like PPP forms government in Sindh and nominates Mian Raza Rabbani or any other Urdu-speaking person as Chief Minister, nobody would have objection on it.
Apprehending involvement of Establishment in the demands for Muhajir province, Dr. Magsi said Constitution of Pakistan does not allow creation of any new province. There is a safety valve in Constitution against creation of new provinces but Sindh s integrity does not need such guarantees as it is indivisible.
He also warned of constitutional crisis as a result of creating new provinces and said there would no more exist the federation and a new federation would have to be formed. For this purpose a new constituent assembly would have to be formed and then the provinces would be free to accept new federation or not. Similar problems would arise in formation of Senate.
To a question he said police have failed to restore peace as it has been over-politicized by recruiting people of MQM, ANP and PPP.
On another question, Magsi said cases should be registered against Ahmed Chenai, CPLC chief, for murder of Pakistan s senior Neuro surgeon Dr. Aftab Qureshi. He should be questioned why he exercised powers of a police officer and conducted raid at Qasimabad, Hyderabad and killed Dr. Aftab who was kidnapped two weeks back.
Dr. Magsi also demanded inquiry against Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad and Ahmed Chenai for their involvement in negotiations with kidnappers and pirates and arranging ransom for them.
