MQM leaders meet PTI leaders, discuss current situation

Lahore,  Muttehada Qaumi Movement MQM delegation comprising Dr Farooq Sattar, Raza Haroon, Wasay Jalil and Iftikhar Randhawa on their request, Tuesday met Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf PTI delegation comprising Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, President Javed Hashmi and Andleeb Abbas Information Secretary Punjab at PTI office, Lahore and exchanged views on current situation in the country in frank, open and candid manner.

According to PTI press release, Dr Sattar conveyed message of their leader Altaf Hussain concerning internal and external dangers confronting the country, need for all parties to sit together and find solutions that can save the country from this quagmire. He expressed his special concerns on condition of economy, energy and Baluchistan.

Javed Hashmi said dialogue with all political parties was an essential part of democratic process and it must continue with parties within and outside the parliament.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi welcomed process of reaching out to all parties for national agenda but expressed serious reservations on key issues in the country and government’s sincerity in solving them. He said he was glad to know MQM had expressed those very concerns that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had been voicing for many years. He particularly pointed out grave situation of missing persons, Hazara community killings in Baluchistan and asked MQM delegation to put pressure on the government to take it seriously.

Other issues discussed were independence of judiciary and “highly defamatory” remarks of PPP Senator Faisal Raza Abidi. Qureshi pointed out recent remarks of PPP Senator Raza Rabbani on rollback of 18th amendment as alarming disrespect of Constitution by present government.

PTI delegation requested MQM delegation to ensure participation of all parties in selection of caretaker government to ensure fair and free elections in the country. PTI delegation concluded meeting by saying they will convey discussions to their apex decision making body, according to PTI press release.
