LHC adjourns Efroze Chemical’s plea against black-listing

Lahore :  Lahore High Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a petition challenging Punjab government s decision to declare M/s Efroze Chemicals (Pvt) Limited as black-listed on allegations of supplying spurious medicines to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) that caused deaths of many patients.

Efroze Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd., submitted Punjab Health Secretary issued letter dated February 2, 2012 blacklisting company without any evidence. Counsel argued inquiry into PIC deaths was pending at highest judicial forum, which so far established no evidence that Isotab manufactured by petitioner firm was substandard. He stated impugned letter also restrained petitioner from dispose of its stocks of medicines in market. He contended impugned letters had no legality since no evidence was found against petitioner and prayed to suspend its operation till final disposal of petition.

On Wednesday, Justice Umer Ata Bandial directed petitioner s counsel to place on record documents substantiating claims made in the petition. Hearing was adjourned for a date in office.
