Peshawar : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said the present government was giving special attention to promotion of education in order to put an end to the ongoing terrorism and for restoration of durable peace in the country, adding that it would not be possible to get rid of terrorism until and unless the light of education does not reach every nook and corner of our country.
This he said while speaking as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of Peace Conference held under the auspices of a nongovernmental organization (BARDASHT) at a local hotel Peshawar on Wednesday.
He said that for promotion of education, his leader Bacha Khan got his property forfeited and spent years behind the bar. Following the footsteps of our leader, the present provincial government has taken serious steps for promotion of education and established a large number of universities, colleges and schools in the province which had no precedent in our history, he claimed.
Mian Iftikhar said that 1000 primary schools would be established during the current financial year and each girl students of Torghar and Kohistan districts would be given Rs. 2000 as scholarship to promote education in those areas.
The Information Minister said that his government has initiated Bacha Khan Khypal Rozgar Scheme, Hunermand Rozgar Scheme and traditional Rozgar Scheme adding that these were the only schemes in the entire world which had 99% ratio of recovery.
Regarding the ongoing terrorism, the Information Minister said that meaningful negotiations was the only solution of this menace as neither the war nor bullet has ever solve any problem.
Regarding the ongoing situation in the country, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the country has got a very good team in the form of President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, Chief of Army Staff, General Pervez Kiani and Chief Justice of Pakistan Muhammad Iftikhar Chowdhary by virtue of which democracy was still going on in the country despite anti democratic forces conspiracies. He has also appreciated the role of the Opposition leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
