Peshawar , Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Tourism, Sports, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs Syed Aqil Shah has said that his ministry will rethink whether to adjust or vice versa staff of Tourist Services Wing (TSW) Peshawar if the property of PTDC is not handed over to Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP).
This, he said, during the visit and inspection of Tourists Services Wing Peshawar on Thursday. He said it was against the provincial autonomy guaranteed through 18th Amendment that the federal government was keeping profitable property with itself and handing over the non-profitable property and staff to the provincial government. He said he would categorically talk to Prime Minister about the matter and would also raise the issue in the Inter Provincial Coordination Committee meeting headed by senator Farah Aqil Shah.
He said before devolution of powers to the provinces under the 18th Amendment, the Federal Youth Affairs Ministry was establishing five youth hostels in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it had neither completed those hostels nor given us the funds earmarked for the construction of these hostels.
Assistant Controller TSW Mr. Muhammad Arabi apprised the minister about the functions, budget and revenue of the wing. Syed Aqil Shah said the number of staff at Tourists Services Wing Peshawar was 12 which were more than the requirements.
He said there should be departments of tourists services at divisional level and the staff of the TSW should be adjusted in these departments. He said the rent paid by TSW for its offices at Peshawar Cantt was exorbitantly higher while his ministry had ample offices to accommodate the staff.
Syed Aqil Shah further said that being the custodian of his ministry, he would do his utmost efforts to streamline the affairs of his departments for the public interest.
