Peshawar : Advocating for cordial and trust worthy relations amongst the SAARC member countries, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said it could help them in return of peace, social prosperity and economic progress. This region, South Asia badly affected by crises and hostilities and its people deserve peace and political stability like Europe and other western world, Mian Iftikhar Hussain remarked while addressing concluding ceremony of six-days training workshop here at Peshawar on Saturday afternoon. The six-days training workshop for journalists from various districts of Malakand was arranged by Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa-FATA chapter of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA). Around 18 journalists from Swat, Upper and Lower Dir, Malakand, Shangla and Buner participated in the workshop.
Beside Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the concluding ceremony of weeklong workshop was also addressed by SAFMA President Shamim Shahid, Secretary General Farzana Ali, Zia Ul Haq and Shahab Ud Din. The Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Information Minister said that SAARC came into being around three decades ago but due to hostilities and misunderstanding amongst some of its members, it yet to materialize the objectives. Whereas the European Union s age is less then SAAARCH but it become most powerful group in the world.
He said that it is need of hours that rulers and policy makers from all SAARCH member countries should realize needs of trust-worthy relations with each others. In this respect, he asked for abolishing of Visa restrictions amongst the SAARC member countries for people from all sphere of life. Mian Iftikhar Hussain reminded that compare to rest of the world, economic disorder particularly price hike, unemployment and poverty like issues are very common amongst the SAARC member countries especially in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Afghanistan.
And unless entering into trade links with each others, it is impossible for leadership of all these countries to address such type of issues in this region. He said that media people needs to help in resolving of all issues amongst the SAARC member countries. Later Mian Iftikhar Hussain distributed certificates amongst the journalists from various media organization from certain districts of Malakand Division.
