SABAWON implementing South Waziristan Development Initiatives Project

Peshawar ,SABAWON is implementing  South Waziristan Development Initiatives Project  a part of  Fata strategy  in South Waziristan Agency aimed at enabling the poor farmers to earn their livelihood honorably and meet routine expenditures funded by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF).

A statement issued here on Saturday, said that under the project a total of 330 farmers had been trained in agriculture and livestock sectors in different villages in the region. Besides, under LEP Unit of PPAF the SABAWON is providing Vocational and Technical Trainings to the war stricken communities of SWA to improve their livelihoods.

The Ongoing War on Terror has dashed to the ground each and every livelihood including their agricultural lands and livestock and markets. Though people have started living again in the villages under the protection of Pak Army but area is pretty much barren in terms of Technical services like electrical shops, tailoring shops, computer institutes for younger generations and driving schools etc.

The area is rich in Human assets but they are mainly unskilled and so they earn less from their endeavors which ultimately restricts them to get rid of vicious circle of poverty.

It was stated that the livestock sector had been completely destroyed during the war and this sector needed more attention too as people of the vicinity have a generation long experience in Livestock. So their lands are barren due to their long evacuation from their homeland.

The people are rich in traditional farming but time has come to equip them with the modern productive techniques like  Tunnel Farming  Off season vegetables, Crop Maximization techniques, Pest control and livestock management trainings

Keeping this frightening scenario in mind SABAWON is implementing a project funded by PPAF under LEP Unit to equip them with technical and vocational trainings in the trade of Agriculture and Livestock at their doorsteps to increase and strengthen their Livelihoods.

SABAWON under the umbrella of PPAF also launched a one month residential technical and vocational training programme in the  Government Technical & Vocational Training Centre Dera Ismail Khan for the Poor, unemployed and unskilled communities of SWA.
