Peshawar : A delegation of the representatives of UN organizations in Pakistan called on the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Eng. Shaukatullah Khan at the Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad on Thursday morning.
The members of the delegation discussed issues related to the internally displaced population (IDPs) both in KP and FATA and their repatriation.
Besides others the members of the delegation included UN Resident Humantarian Coordinator Timo Pakkala, representative s of UNICEF Dr.Dan Rohrmann, World Food Program MS.Lola Castro, UNHCR Neil Wright and Jacques Franquin, and Head of the Office of Co-orator of Humanitarian Affairs, MS Lynn Hastings while Additional Chief Secretary KP Mr.Khalid Parves, Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr.Fakhre Alam, Director General FATA Disaster Management Authority, Arshad Khan and Director General Project FATA Zahir Shah assisted the Governor.
The problems of the IDPs in different camps related to food, shelter, health, sanitation, education and repatriation, as well as the Afghan refugees and their children were discussed in detail and it was decided that both the UN organizations as well as the government of Pakistan, both Provincial and Federal will make utmost and joint efforts to provide all basic amenities of life to the IDPS and the afghan refugees.
The Governor on this occasion appreciated the assistance of the UN agencies to both the communities of IDPs as well as the Afghan refugees and hoped that such assistance will continue till their repatriations.
