LG elections are not feasible before November, B.Blour

Peshawar ,  Minister for local government Bashir Ahmad Bilour said on Tuesday that election for local government in the province is not feasible before November 2012.

Talking to media after passage of the Local Government Act 2012 in the provincial assembly, Bashir Bilour said about three months will be required for delimitation of the union councils whereas the new electoral role had not been finalized.

He said almost two moths wills also be required in filling and completion of nominations therefore the whole process will take six  months and before this conduction of Local Government election will be difficult.

However, he said if Supreme court issues orders for holding the election before  government could hold it before November and it could be done earlier before November.

Replying a question Bashir Bilour said the metropolis city Peshawar will consists of Municipal Corporation and the chairman of each union council shall be general member of the district council ex-officio.

The chairman and vice chairman of the district council shall be elected by the members of the district council whereas union council will consists of eleven members elected through direct election based on adult franchise, he said adding that seven Muslim general members, two women members, one member for peasants and workers, and one member minority communities will include in union council.
