Peshawar : The Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Transport Department in order to ensure proper utilization of the income of transport department and make the Peshawar Bus Terminal a Modelone of the province, a meeting of the Road Transport Board was held with Khyber Minister for Transport Mian Iftikhar Hussain in the chair at Peshawar, the other day.
The meeting besides others was also attended by the Secretary Transport Sikandar Qayyum, Director Transport, Secretary PTA, and authorities concerned of the finance, transport and law department.
The meeting thoroughly debated the affairs of the transport department and made certain important decisions for strengthening of the transport department.
It bedsides reviewing the establishment of transport complex, also decided effective monitoring of the Epayment system and complete computerization of Peshawar Bus Terminal.
Similarly, it also approved 100 percent increase in the post of security guard for foolproof security of the terminal. The meeting also approved the renovation of waiting hall and ensuring the facilities to the passengers in it.
The meeting also approved establishment of filling station and service stations inside the Peshawar bus terminal to facilitate the transporters.
Likewise it was also decided to purchase tractor along trolley and appoint three more sweepers for improving cleanliness condition of the terminal on daily basis.
The meeting took strong exception of the former contractors and Peshawar bus terminal who not only violated the agreement but also not deposited the agreed money of three month in the provincial exchequer.
It besides declaring the said contractor blacklisted for ever and confiscated the security of Rs. Nine million, also directed the authorities concerned to ensure recovery of Rs.11.4 million from the said contractors.
