Peshawar : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has served notice to Chief Editor, Daily Akhbar-e-Khyber Jawad Hamid Raja and Chief Executive Editor AVT Channels Network, AVT Khyber News for payment of damages of Rs. 300 million on account of publishing defamatory news story in daily Akhbar-e-Khyber and telecasting defamatory tickers by Khyber News.
The Minister, in two separate notices issued through his counsel Abdul Latif Advocate and Barrister Kamran Qaiser on Thursday wrote that the malicious publication and telecast of news story and tickers have caused damages to his reputation and also suffered mental torture.
The counsel explained That my client was selected as a Minister and he is still holding the portfolio of Minister for Information, Culture, Transport and Inter-Provincial Coordination and is the spokesman of Provincial Government and every one is well aware of his heroic role in fighting/resisting Talibans and their terrorist and extremist activities suffered by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mian Sahib lost his only son in the struggle and yet he stood as a rock in the way of Talibans and their extremism. That the news-story not only caused torture to my client, his family and friends but also created suspicion within the party. My client is still continuing clarification to friends and well wishers.
It conveyed, You are therefore, required through this notice to pay Rs. 300 million to Mian Iftikhar Hussain my client within 2 weeks of the receipt of this notice failing which my client shall prosecute you both in civil and criminal courts and in that eventuality the burden of cost so incurred shall be on your shoulder .
