Peshawar: Minister for Social Welfare & Women Development Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sitara Ayaz said, we were proud of our dedicated, courageous and head working nurses who provide tremendous services to the ailing humanity and to the large number of victims of war against terror, she was talking to a function on the occasion of International Nurses Day organized by Khyber Medical University in joint collaboration with Post Graduate College of Nursing (PGCN) at Hayatabad Peshawar.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafeez Ullah, Director Academics Prof Dr. Shad Mohammad, Registrar Dr. Fazal Mehmood, Principal PGCN Mst Shamshad Qadir and Course Coordinator Miss Nasreen Ghani were also present at the occasion.
Minister for Social Welfare & Women Development Sitara Ayaz said our people were badly suffered due to ongoing war on terror. She said in these unfavorable and undesirable conditions where even men were reluctant in different cases to serve the war victims, nurses were come forward with full zeal and zest to look after and serve thousand numbers of victims of war against terror. She said Govt was committed to provide all basic facilities to the masses of the province, especially which of education and health related services.
Sitara Ayaz while congratulating KMU Administration and especially VC of the University said KMU was made unbelievable progress and accomplishments and these were possible due to their will and interest in the so far neglected areas of health profession. She hoped KMU will keep continue its efforts for enhancement of the capacity of the newly admitted nurses in various disciplines and will also make sure to provide a healthy and encouraging atmosphere to all the student nurses especially that of females ones.
Earlier while talking to the function VC KMU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafeez Ullah said nursing is a pious and noble profession and we all are proud of our courageous and dedicated nurses. He said KMU had prioritized all those disciplines related directly or indirectly to the health profession. He said we started two and four year BSc Nursing programems first time in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the interest and enthusiasm shown in this programmes by the young male and female students of the province really encouraged us, therefore we from this year not only raised the overall number of seats for admissions but also planned to start master and as well as M Phil and PhD prgrammes in the near future.
He said nurses are the backbones of health profession and with their proper and modern training and education we could be able to coup with the burden of diseases and to overcome the present pressure of victims of war against terrorism.
VC assured the participants that KMU will let no effort to promote and encourage nursing profession and will be provide all possible support and ground for enhancing the capacity and skills of the new enrolled nurses irrespective of their gender and social status, he added. Later on chief guest distributed certificates among the position holder students.
