No woman is killed in Kohistan, video is produced through mixing software, KP Investigation team

Peshawar :   The Investigation team sent by Khyber Pukhtunkhwa team on Monday returned with the news that no female seen in the video had been killed and they were alive.

Besides others, the investigation team comprised Commissioner and DIG Hazara who conveyed their findings on telephone to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relation Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who also happens to be the spokesman of the KP government.

Following allegations as reported in media that on the basis of a religious decree and orders of a traditional jarga some females have been killed, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Monday  had  sent the  investigation team to Kohistan.

The Minister was informed that the team went to the village Sardya in tehsil Palis of district Kohistan, met the elders of the area including the parents of allegedly killed women Sarin Jan d/o Saeer Khan, Tazai Bebi d/o Sabir Khan, Amina Bebi d/o Sarfaraz and Begam Jan d/o Mubin Khan. It is worth-mentioning that fathers of all these women except Begam Jan are alive and the investigation team recorded their statements also.

The Commissioner along-with Molvi Habibur Rahman also went inside the houses and talked to the women from behind the pardah, in view of the traditions of the area and thus recorded their statements too. The team also visited the graveyard of the area and despite thorough checking found no new grave whatsoever there.

It is worth mentioning that one way jeep journey between the helipad and the village of alleged occurrence i.e. Pitch Gali and Sardya, was found to be three hours.

The investigation team informed the Minister on phone that it also met Molvi Javed, who allegedly issued the controversial religious decree, who informed that most of the time he remains out of the village and this time too he had recently returned there.

He totally denied having issued any such decree. Over all, the team found that the disputed video had been manufactured by mixing the recordings of two separate female and male functions and the man behind it was one Ashraf who happens to be the clerk of a lawyer in Mansehra but was now absconding.

The administration feel that following his cellular phone signals, he was absconding somewhere in Islamabad but his two brothers have been arrested. The motive behind making the video was stated to be some old enmity.

Thus, the women so allegedly killed were found alive and no decree regarding their killing had ever been issued, the investigation team found, as it informed the minister on phone Monday evening.
