Quetta Valley receives snowfall

QUETTA : Major Parts of Balochistan including Quetta valley received first snowfall  of current winter Saturday. Nearly 6 inches snow had fallen til tonight.

It started snowing early in the morning and continued till late at night. Nearly six inches of  snow had fallen till late at night.

Snowfall also fell in Ziarat, Pishin, Kan Mehterzai, Toba Kakri, Toba Achakzai, Mastung,  Mangochar, Kalat.  Earlier there was mild rainfall and snowfall which turned heavy in the  afternoon. Snowfall increased cold.

With snowfall and rainfall, electricity disappeared in several areas while gas either disappeared  or its pressure fell.

Quetta-Chaman section of national highway was blocked at Kohak pass due to snowfall.

Maximum temperature recorded here Saturday was 10.5 Celsius while minimum was minus 7 Celsius.

Local Met office has forecast Frosty and cold weather at night and chances of rain/thunderstorm  during the day with snowfall Sunday.

Meanwhile coastal areas including Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara received heavy rains today. Cold  increased in these areas. Several cities were cut with rest of the country due to flooding of  rivers and nullahs.Turbat was cut by land with pasni and Karachi.

Due to heavy rains, streets and mohallas turned into ponds in Pansi.  With the start of rain  electricity disappeared. Rains started early in the morning and continued till late.
