Quality education in Sindh termed big challenge

Karachi, Sindh Secretary Education & Literacy Alam Din Bullo has said that provision of qualitative education is a big challenge in Sindh province.

In a statement here Thursday, he said the US Agency of International Development (USAID) has pledged to support education sector in Sindh. Under the program USAID supported Sindh Basic Education Program.

He said the flood affected and dilapidated schools will be reconstructed in Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kambar, Sukkur, Larkana, Kashmore and Karachi (rural/ slum areas).

The SEP will also support in enhancing literacy in schools, alleviating malnourishment in children, and technical assistance to department to improve its capacity. The total available funding is USD 155 million.

He said the goal of the Sindh Basic Education Program is to increase and sustain students enrollment in primary, middle and secondary schools in targeted geographic locations in Sindh by developing a school environment conducive to teaching and learning.
