Karachi, Provincial Health Secretary Sindh Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the health of mother and child would improve under the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Program while 200 more midwives would be trained in this regard.
He expressed these view at an awareness program of MNCH and UNICEF at a local hotel here on Wednesday. He said they wanted better health facilities for mother and child in the province.
Project Director MNCH Dr Sahib Jan Bader was of the view that a ban must be imposed on marriages before the age of 14 for girls as marrying before that age could be dangerous for mother and child’s health.
She said that she had also informed MNAs as she considered it a big issue for Sindh and for the country.
She forhter said we have already more than 800 trained midwifes and sindh and we want about 200 midwife to more training.
