India urged to take steps for Kashmir resolution

Jammu,  In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, Ghulam Ahmed Mir has urged India to take steps to create a conducive atmosphere for resolving the Kashmir dispute through meaningful and result-oriented dialogue process.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ghulam Ahmed Mir in a statement issued in Jammu said that instead of continuing its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir through military might, India must adopt a realistic approach and withdraw its troops from the occupied territory to pave way for permanently settling the lingering dispute.

The APHC leader said that there was military rule in occupied Kashmir where Indian armed forces under the protection of draconian laws were committing gross human rights violations.

He pointed out that the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, despite his announcement, had so far failed to revoke the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), as he was helpless before the Indian army.
Ghulam Ahmed Mir maintained that Indian Armys recent assertion that India would be compelled to grant freedom to Jammu and Kashmir if AFSPA was lifted from the territory vindicated that New Delhi was holding Jammu and Kashmir by dent of its military.
