Kashmiris determined to continue struggle: Gilani

SRINAGAR :  In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the Kashmiris are determined to continue their struggle for securing their right to self-determination till it reaches its logical conclusion.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar made it clear that status quo was never a solution to the Kashmir problem and maintained that any settlement of such kind would be opposed tooth and nail.

The veteran leader said that the Pakistan President, Asif Ali Zardari in his forthcoming visit to India should tell New Delhi that Kashmir was a core issue between the two countries and without its resolution peace and stability in South Asia was not possible. “Pakistan is an important stakeholder in the Kashmir dispute. It has always supported the Kashmir cause,” he added.

He reiterated his appeal for boycott to forthcoming Municipal polls saying that New Delhi was using the elections for its own benefit at international fora. “Casting vote in such elections would amount to treason and betrayal with those who spilled their blood for the movement,” he added.

Gilani said that under the Land Grants Bill, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah had leased land to the Indian Army for 90 years and now the army was not only taking control of more and more land but was also destroying the forests
