ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, urged upon the Afghan journalists to play their role constructively by focusing on improving Pak-Afghan relations.
He stated this during a meeting with a 19-member Afghan journalists delegation which called on him at Pakistan Embassy. The delegation will be visiting Pakistan on 18th June, under 2012 Af-Pak Journalists Exchange Program , says a press release received from Kabul here Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan were conjoined brothers and if there was any happening in one of the two countries that had direct bearing upon the other. He said that Pakistan s peace, prosperity and stability were deeply inter-linked with Afghanistan.
He told the journalists that the media could play significant role in changing public perceptions. He advised them to play their role positively in bringing the people of the two countries closer.
The Ambassador briefed the journalists about the contribution made by Pakistan for the development of health and educational infrastructure in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan encouraged and supported Afghan students to study in its educational institutions. Pakistan had offered educational opportunities to a large number of Afghan students and presently 7,000 Afghan, including 2,000 on fully funded scholarships are studying in Pakistan s professional colleges and universities.
