Prime Minister invites opposition for talks to finalize Chief Election Commissioner’s name to ensure free, fair polls

Lahore :   Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf on Friday invited the Opposition for dialogue to finalize name for the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner to ensure free and fair general elections in the country.

Addressing PPP Punjab’s Executive Committee meeting here, he said next general elections will be held on time. Prime Minister rejected politics of confrontation among the institutions as it is not in interest of anyone. PPP is following Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s policy of reconciliation. All state institutions should work within their constitutional parameters, he observed.

He welcomed goodwill gesture of Punjab government on arrival Friday at Lahore airport where he was received by senior Adviser to Chief Minister Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khan Khosa, Provincial Food Minister Ch. Abdul Ghafoor  Chief Secretary Nasser Mahmood Khosa, IG Police Punjab, Provincial officials.

Prime Minister said he holds governments of Punjab  Sindh  Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Balochistan in high esteem and respects their mandate.

Raja Ashraf thanked PPP leadership and its coalition partners for electing him as Prime Minister with overwhelming majority. PPP leaders and workers are proud of their long struggle for democracy and supremacy of the constitution.

PPP Punjab’s Executive Committee meeting discussed overall political situation in the country and party reorganization for next general elections.
