Karachi, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) held a big rally here on Friday against the government decision to restore supply routes through Pakistan land for NATO forces in Afghanistan.
JI Karachi Chapter Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, addressing the rally said the nation would never tolerate the decision of restoring the supply routes, because the decision was against Pakistan and Islam. He charged that the sitting government was taking ill-conceived decisions that were not the interests of Pakistan and Pakistanis. He said that the government decision to restore the supply routes was tantamount to giving a license to the foreign forces in Afghanistan.
He said Senator Mian Raza Rabbani had presented 26 point in the National Assembly as conditions to the restoration of NATO supply but the government threw all of them behind the back.
The rally was staged at Banoria Masjid on the appeal of the Difa-e Pakistan Council (DPC) and it marched to the Mazar-e-Quaid.
Mahenti said that the time was ripe to get rid of the dominance of the United States in Pakistan. He said the present government does not have the guts to take bold decisions in the national interest.
Harshly criticizing political parties sitting in parliament, he said that the friendly opposition was equally exploiting the nation. He said only Jamaat-e Islami i the real opposition to the sitting regime. A
JI Karachi chapter general secretary Naseem Siddiqui, deputy amir Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, Jamaat-e Islami minority wing leader Younus Sohan Khan Advocate also spoke.
