Islamabad, Pakistan”s central leadership have devised their strategy regarding the NRO Implementation Case, but are keeping it close to their chests and not sharing details even with the party parliamentarians, sources in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have said.
The Nation quoted the PPP sources as saying that the PPP leadership was still adamant about not writing to Swiss authorities, and that the government”s strategy in the court would be to drag their feet as far as possible over the issue.
The Supreme Court had recently directed Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to come up clear on writing to Swiss authorities asking to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari by July 25.
According to close associates of PM Ashraf, the government, on July 25, would request for more time for legal consultation on the matter and appointment of counsel in the case. If required, they would also claim presidential immunity under Article 248, thereby dragging it for a longer period.
