Ordinance conspiracy to divide Sindh: JI

Karachi : Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chapter Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehnati has condemned the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2012, terming it a conspiracy to divide Sindh province.

Expressing his grave concern over the ordinance, he charged that ruling Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarian (PPPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have decided to divide the province of Sindh, adding that PPPP had always been blackmailed by its allies and the recent decision was also a result of the same malpractice.

JI leader said that announcement of new local bodies system in the darkness of night was the worst example of attack on the rights of people. He said that except Sindh there was no example in the world, parallel local bodies systems are being implemented in different cities of the same province. He feared this confusing system would further boost corruption.

Mehnati charged that the decision was taken on the behest of foreigner powers, which want some ethnic parties to be in power in Sindh after the upcoming polls. He said that the present government has violated the constitution, law and democratic norms and values in the pretext of its politics of reconciliation. This ordinance proves that the regime has a mindset of dictatorship, though it chants the mantra of democracy, he concluded.
