Islamabad, PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Monday announced launching movement inside and outside the parliament against “corrupt PPP government for not implementing verdict of Supreme Court sentencing Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in contempt of court case. It is a do or die situation. We will also start long march if present corrupt rulers do not relinquish.”
“All patriotic citizens and opposition parties should join the struggle for the supremacy of law, respect for judiciary and against present rulers who have destroyed the country during the last four years. Everyone should come forward at this critical juncture to save Pakistan in order to avoid chaos and anarchy in the country. The verdict of Supreme Court in contempt of court case should be implemented and Prime Minister Gilani should resign forthwith.”
“We will approach the Election Commission to implement judgment of the apex court against the Prime Minister who has not yet resigned and therefore had disappointed the whole nation,” he said at news conference here after presiding PML-N parliamentary party and PML-N national working committee meeting. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Opposition leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and other party leaders, Senators, MNAs were also present.
Nawaz Sharif said he will contact Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Imran Khan, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Munawar Hasan, Jamiat-e-Ulema Amir Maulana Fazlur Rahman, PPP (Sherpao) Chief Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and other parties and ask them to join in the movement against the corrupt rulers.
He urged democratic forces, lawyers, civil society, youth and media to forge unity and struggle for the rule of law and the independence of judiciary. He said Asif Zardari government had made all institutions non-functional and had no respect for the judiciary. He said Asif Zardari did not honour Charter of Democracy COD he signed with PML-N.
PML-N Chief recalled that his party had struggled for the restoration of the judges of the superior judiciary and was now again in the forefront for ensuring independence of the judiciary and the rule olf law in the country.
