Karachi : Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon Friday said the concerns of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) over targeted killings and deteriorating law and order were genuine and government was all serious on the matter.
“Chief Minister Sindh has also invited delegation of traders at the CM House on Saturday to discuss with them their concerns,” he told journalists at the media briefing outside the Sindh Assembly building.
Memon said law enforcement agencies operation in Lyari was a targeted operation in which several wanted criminals were arrested. Targeted raids are being conducted at criminals hideouts in all areas of the city, he added.
He said Karachi is a mega city with approximately 20 million population; therefore, it is not possible for government to deploy police at every shop of the city. It is not appropriate to claim that government is not serious on Karachi unrest, he asserted.
Criticizing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Information Minister said Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan was suffering from ‘president phobia’ and his party never missed chance to criticize him. He claimed thousands of people were abducted in Punjab in one year while many scandals including were surfaced and people of Punjab knew about them.
