National Junior Cship begins 17th Jan

Karachi :  Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) is organizing Jubilee Insurance Pakistan National Junior U21 Championship from 17th to 22nd January at Imran Shahzad Snooker and Coaching Centre in Lahore.
The tournament features 24 players who would be divided into four groups   six cueists in each group. Top two players would qualify for the quarterfinals from each group.
The top two players of the tournament   that is the finalists would be sent to 13th Asian U21 Snooker Championship to be held in Goa, India from 2nd to 9th April. However, the participation would be subject to the availability of funds,  PBSA chief Alamgir Sheikh told media here Thursday at Karachi Gymkhana.
The tournament carries a prize purse of Rs 105000.
Alamgir Sheikh also announced that PBSA would send its team to 2nd Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship next month from 13th to 19th February. Earlier in the first week of February, PBSA would also organize 37th Jubilee Insurance Pakistan National Snooker Championship in Karachi, where forty players would participate.
The PBSA would also organize 6-Nation International Snooker Championship from 4th to 9th March in Karachi at PC Hotel.
We are in contact with Interior Minister Rehman Malik and he has assured fool-proof security to foreign players. So, security would not be an issue for the 6-Nation tournament,  Alamgir said.
He also informed that Lebanon, Thailand, India, Iran, Qatar, Egypt and UAE have shown interest in the event and they would have to short-list the participating teams in the event.
